a split yesterday with Bayern giving the lead away in a lackluster performance
Saturday
1.Bundesliga
Bielefeld- Hamburg: Bielefeld pk @1.87
Bielefeld was the positive surprise , while Hamburg the negative in first half of season. Nothing has changed over the winter break.
Hamburg got a new-keeper (the former no.1 of Schalke), which is a big positive, but they have still 5 key players injured and in addition have to play without their most important player van der vaart (suspended). without him they struggle big time to get any kind of game going. Bielefeld had also no real changes during the break, but solid test results and everybody is available.
Especially playing at home they have a good chance to win here (but at least i dont see an away win)
Frankfurt- Schalke: Schalke pk,-0.5 @ 1.93
Schalke one of the top teams and always good for an away win. Frankfurt has only 2 wins in last 9 against schalke. Pander is a late scratch for Schalke, but with Bordon (on defense) and Lincoln (midfield) to key-players are back in the line-up.
Frankfurt has some injury problems and although playing at home i dont see them winning here. Schalke in a low-scoring close one.
Nürnberg- Stuttgart: Stuttgart pk @ 2.04
i was thinking a lot before i made the pick. On paper it s easy. Nürnberg has big, big injury problems with 6 players out in all part of the team. Stuttgart had a great first half of the season (although over-achieving a bit IMO) and is the much better team as they are also dangerous in away games. Only problem is that Stuttgart lost all 3 test matches they had,but then on the other hand...it s just test matches
Bochum- Mainz: Bochum -0.5 @ 2.08
key-match between two team playing against relegation. Bochum played better coming into the break, everybody is available and they got a new goalie (which was ne of their weknesses). They are playing usually well at home.
Mainz was the worst team in the first half, but they got big, positive changes thru the break. most important the return of Zidane. Zidane was Mainz' key-player during the past, but got transferred to Bremen before the season. That was a key-loss for them. Now in the winter-break, while he had not his break-thru in Bremen..he was alway saying he wants to go back and help his former team...he is back and a positive boost for Mainz. nevertheless they have two injuries and playing away , where they were absolutely helpless. Mainz will play a better 2nd half of season, but it s not starting today.
Berlin- Wolfsburg: under 2.5 @1.97
Interesting game, as marcelinho, the former berlin star, is now playing in wolfsburg.. that should give wolfsburg a boost on the creative side, but they are still a team living off solid defense.
Berlin in full strength, but this will be a close one and hopefully a 1-1.
I am still leaning toward the Bochum and Hamburg over..maybe adding it later
